Mariola Tortosa

Mariola Tortosa obtained her B.S. in Chemistry from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) in 1999. She then joined the group of Dr. R. Fernández de la Pradilla at the Instituto de Química Orgánica General (Madrid, Spain) to carry out her graduate work on the development of new asymmetric methods using chiral sulfoxides. In 2004, she received the Lilly Award for PhD students. In 2005, she moved to The Scripps Research Institute in Florida (USA) to work as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Prof. William Roush.

Alejandro Parra

3Alejandro Parra was born in 1980 in Toledo, Spain. He received his B.S. in Chemistry at the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid (Spain) in 2004. In 2006 he spent four months in the laboratory of Prof. Andrew Myers at Harvard University (USA) working on the chemistry of tetracyclines. In 2009, he earned his Ph.D. at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid under the supervision of Prof. José Luis García Ruano. After that he carried out a postdoctoral stay in Institute of Organic Chemistry, RWTH-Aachen (Germany), with Prof. Magnus Rueping (2009-2011)

Laura Trulli

Laura Trulli was born in 1989 in Veroli, a small city near Rome, Italy. She obtained her degree in Chemistry (2013) and also the Ph.D. (2016) in the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, under the supervision of Prof. Lucio Pellacani and Stefania Fioravanti. During the Ph.D. she also spent 6 months in the group of Prof. Darren Dixon at University of Oxford. She joined the group few months ago and currently she is working on the asymmetric boron chemistry. Ignacio Colomer

Ignacio graduated in Chemistry, with honors, in 2007. In 2010 he moved to UC Berkeley to explore enantioselective gold catalysis under the guidance of Prof. Dean Toste, getting his PhD in 2012 at the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), mentored by Prof. Fernández de la Pradilla, in the field of asymmetric synthesis using chiral sulfoxides. During 2014-2016 he was a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Oxford, where he developed new metal-free oxidation processes within the group of Prof. Tim Donohoe. He later took a postdoctoral position with Prof. Steve Fletcher at Oxford during 2016-2018 to study new autocatalytic methods in connection with the origin of life. Víctor Martín-Heras

Víctor Martín-Heras was born in 1992 in Madrid, Spain. He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2014. As an undergraduate, he spent one year at the same university working in Benito Alcaide’s group. In 2014, he obtained his master at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid under the supervision of Dr. Mariola Tortosa (ranked 1st out 23 candidates). Currently, he is carrying out his graduate work at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid under the supervision of Dr. Mariola Tortosa.

Mario Franco

Mario Franco Ferández was born in 1994 in Madrid, Spain. He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2016. In the same year, he obtained his master at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid under the supervision of Dr. Mariola Tortosa and Belén Cid de la Plata. Currently, he is carrying out his graduate work at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid under the supervision of Belén Cid de la Plata and Dr. Mariola Tortosa.

Luis Nóvoa

Luis Nóvoa was born in 1994 in Ourense, Spain. He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from the Universidade de Vigo in 2016. As an undergraduate, he worked in total synthesis for 7 months under the supervision of Dr. Ángel Rodríguez de Lera. In 2017 he obtained his master degree at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid where he worked in Medicinal Chemistry under the supervision of Dr. Carmen Gil (CIB-CSIC). Currently, he is carrying out his graduate work at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid under the supervision of Dr. Mariola Tortosa. David Fernandez

David Fernández Aguado was born in 1996 in Madrid, Spain. He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2018. As an undergraduate, he worked in the synthesis of COFs for eight months at the same university working in Carlos Seoane’s group. Actually, he is carrying out his master´s final project at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid under the supervision of Dr. Mariola Tortosa.

Jesús de María

Jesús de María was born in 1996 in Murcia, Spain. He obtained his B.S.in Chemistry from the Universidad de Murcia in 2018. As anundergraduate, he worked in supramolecular chemistry for 7 monthsunder the supervision of Dr. José Berná and Alberto Martínez-Cuezva.Currently, he is carrying out his master degree at the UniversidadAutónoma de Madrid where he work under the supervision of Dr. Mariola Tortosa

Cesar Vicente-García

Cesar Vicente-García was born in 1994 in Ibiza, Spain. He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from the Universidad de Navarra in 2016, and in Biochemistry in 2018. As an undergraduate, he worked in mortar properties upgrade in the Heritage, Materials and Environment group (MIMED) at the Universidad de Navarra, and followed a two-year Research Training Program in genetic modification of T-Lymphocytes for adoptive T-cell transfer at the Immunology and Immunotherapy at the Applied Medical Research Centre (CIMA, Pamplona), under the supervision of Dr. Sandra Hervas-Stubbs.
